Reflection

Sitting at the jury lounge,
waiting for my name to be called.
People watching.
Isn't it interesting that not one of us is like another?
Everyone has a very distinct nose, eyes, ears, eyebrows, lips and hair
voice, tone, accent, gait, and style
I see shades of black, brown, yellow, even white
and in between.
Amazing variety!
Each one of this specimen has a unique mix of personality,
Likes and dislikes, passions and commitments,
Sense and sensibility, thoughts, perceptions, ideas
Like no other on this planet

So being different than others seems like a natural thing for us humans.
Then how is it that we discriminate, look down, make fun of, degrade and humiliate others
who look, think or act different than us??
And take pride in it too????
Just because we don't understand something, does that make it unnatural?

Why are we so adamant, unyielding, and stubborn?
Why do we pick up battles in the name of race, religion, money, politics and
any other reason we can find?

Have you seen any other animal behave this way?
(except in movies created by humans)

As diverse as we all are,
it should be easy to forgive and forget, accept and embrace,
Just let go
We may not get along, like, go hand in hand or love everyone
But we can just let them be
As long as they are not hurting us or our fellow human being.
